Eltham Hill School Rocket Workshop
28th and 29th June 2001

On the morning of Thursday the 28th June I again got up at 5.00am to return to Eltham Hill for my third year to teach a class room of girls how to build and launch a rocket kit - but this time I had the Hijax kits and not the normal Windy City kit

Unfortunately my car broke down on the way to the school so I missed the first workshop class but arrived in time to take the second one. The workshop again went well and soon we were on the school field, and the children were launching their rockets into the heavens.

The time passed quickly and soon all the rockets had been launched. and I returned to the classroom and got ready for the next day

The second workshop day  went better then the first, but this time I had only around 15 children in the class and so I had more time to help the children with the tricky to build Hijax rocket

The weather was rather windy but again the rockets were launched and nearly all the rockets came down on their parachutes and landed safely in the field with only 1 going on the school roof.

After packing up I quickly found Pat to say goodbye and she said that the kids and staff had really enjoyed the workshops and she said she looked forward to me coming back again next year.

One of the teachers was having a class building egg capsules and then dropping them out the class window to see if the eggs would survive, and before I left we chatted about perhaps next year putting the eggs into the rockets !!
