First of all a big thankyou to all of our new members. Please keep telling me and Peter your names and then one day they might sink in. I hope you all had a good time.
It was a little cloudy, but wind was the main problem and several rockets fell victim to this. Pete's Mongrel rocket did, Tony's Thunder Bird 1 did, Robert's Shuttle did, and my Voodoo did partly when the chute got wrapped around its tail. The Voodoo flight happened to make it onto the Channel One coverage and it made me cringe as it bounced over Mike's and Pete's ground kit. Voodoo was alright though and flew a bit straighter than James's Shadow because it had a little help from Alan. Thanks Alan. Jake was superb as one of the co-ordinaters on the day and so thanks must go to him too.
Channel One TV did a piece on HART which was a follow-up to a piece last September. Thankfully they managed to miss most of the crashes but they did film Thunder Bird 1 loop-the-looping. They got Jake in close-up and most people there that day should see themselves at some point. It adds another string to our bow in our list of achievements. Thanks to Channel 1.
Dave's Terrier-Sandhawk flew really well on an Aerotech but the chute decided to divorce itself from the main body which resulted in some damage. His Enterprise was consistently returning successful '5 year missions' even if some were upside down! Mike's Sidewinder made a graceful venture in between gusts. Tim and Andy's Bandit which was previously rescued from the lake flew again and has now been renamed 'Creature from the black lagoon'. Pete's drag car entertained us outside of the Cafe (don't let Bob see). The wind claimed a few lost rockets but I don't think the lake got any. Others of you launched but I wasn't taking note as I wasn't expecting to write this report and was rather tied up with C1, so sorry if I've left people out.
So there you have it - our most members on one day so far at about 35 people. The club is at time of writing over 130 strong and still going. With more people present I strongly recommend insurance for individuals as the club cannot get a club policy. Contact B.M.F.A. on 0116 2440028 (£19 per year for adults). As the weather improves so will our fun levels. See you in the air...
