This meeting was on a sad day - The funeral of Princess Diana.
The meeting was going to be cancelled but I thought people would like to get away or out of the house after seeing the funeral on Television.
The meeting was held in the afternoon instead of the normal morning.
Only 7 members turned up and flew but we had a good time and launched a number of rockets each.
I was the first to launch with a Alpha 3 on B6-4 engine which powered to a good height before deploying the streamer and landing on the side of the hill.
Sam then launched his new and unusual rocket called “Coke - a - go go” which was a couple of 2 litre bottles of coke fixed together. This rocket looked great but due to wind the rocket weather cocked badly and did a nice big loop and landed just before the ejection charge fired which blew the rocket into several pieces.
I again launched my Phoenix with its Tamagochi Payload. (on its third flight) the pet again managed to survive and I have now named the virtual dog “Astro”.
Jake launched a number of small rockets including a Gnome on a 1/2A engine.
Sam then launced his stuttle which due to the wind weathercocked badly and crashed while underpower and then jumped up to around 30 feet when the enjection charge fired.
The wind started to pick up and both myself and Sam lost rockets in the Lake and as we had a good few hours flying and the wind was still blowing hard, we decided to stop for the day.
Myself and Robert brought along the new “HART RESCUE” boat which we tried out on the lake and found the boat easily handled the waves but after a few minutes water go into the Radio gear on the boat. The boat circled for a few seconds out of control before hitting the side on the dock and stopping.
I will need to water protect the radio gear for next time, and get the boat ready for its first rocket rescue.
