Launch Report for 10th June 2000

The Weather for the June meeting was hot and sunny with a fair breeze blowing.

The first rocket to launch was my Flash on a B4-4, which did its normal job of a nice flight and showed what the wind was doing.

Gary was next up with his Sabre rocket and this also did a lovely high flight.

A big welcome to Michael and his dad who travelled for 2 hours to get to H.A.R.T. They brought along a few rockets and soon had their R.T.F. Astrocam armed and on the pad.

The rocket took off nicely and did a nice high arch, but on deployment the shock cord broke and the body tube fell to earth while the nosecone camera drifted off under the parachute.

Both bits were tracked all the way down, and the nosecone was soon recovered, but the airfield notched up another rocket to it's long grass.

Gary then launched his Big Bertha and this also broke its shock cord on deployment but this time the rocket was recovered and the nose cone drifted off into the distance.

Michael's next launch was with an Quest Delta Clipper and this did a nice flight, but again tried to hide but was recovered after a search.

My Mustang was next to go and apart from scaring a few people with its nice loud roar it had an uneventful flight

Gary's Black Brant then took to the skies but drifted a long way off and was thought lost but after a long search by a number of the members the rocket was recovered.

Michael then launched his Delta Clipper again but this time the rocket weather cocked quite badly but still had enough high to deploy the parachutes before landing.

The last launch of the day was Gary's Aerotech Initiator this time on an E30-4T (a Blue Thunder motor) on launch the rocket blasted off the pad and if any blinked they would have missed it as the rocket was high up almost as soon as Gary pushed the launch button.

Even though the rocket went a nice height and deployed the parachute at apogee, it drifted down slowly and landed just a short distance from the pad.

Overall we had 12 flights and a nice meeting, it was just a shame that not many people turned up, perhaps they were busy watching the Football !!
