The weather today was again cold but the wind was light, Rain was forecast but luckily it only started a few minutes after we had left the site.
The first to launch was Sam Parker with his Seq Special Rocket on a D12-5 engine and on launch the rocket did a nice flight and was recovered undamaged. Sam then launched his black and yellow Shadow rocket on a D12-3 engine, the rocket took of nice and slowly and reached a height of around 300 feet before the ejection charge fired. Unfortunately the rockets parachute failed to deploy and the rocket nose-dived in to the side of the hill.
The rocket was found with little damage and so Chris decided to launch it again but with a boosted ejection charge. Soon the rocket was back on the pad and launched and this time the boosted ejection charge deployed the parachute and the rocket slowly returned to earth.
The Competition was started and soon people were getting quite close to the target with a number of rockets landing within 30 feet of the target.
Sam Choudhury came along with a few rockets including the repaired Skywinder rocket which he launched on B4-2 engine and this time it worked perfectly and slowly helicoptered back to earth. Sam then launched his Fat Boy rocket on a B6-4 engine with a parachute recovery and then changed the parachute for a streamer and launched it on the more powerful C6-3 engine
Gary launched a number of rockets, his first rocket was the RediRoc Raider but the mini Engine cato'ed but the small rocket survived without damage. Gary then launched a Firebird rocket on a B6-4 engine and reached a height of around 700 feet before slowly descending on it's small parachute and landing next to the lake. He also launched his Maniac Rocket on a D12-5 which vanished for a few seconds at it raced upto 1500 feet before returning to Earth and giving him a long walk to recover it.
Laurie Brought along a number of rockets including his Gemini rocket which was launched 5 times. He then stopped as his was one launch away from his 500th launch and he plans to launch his X-Wing for his 500th launch.
Jake and Ken both had brought along their HL-20 rocket planes and twice tried to drag race them. Ken won both as Jake's controller battery was getting flat and he had trouble launching his rocket.
Ken then launched his Flame rocket on a A3-4T engine which launched perfectly after Ken found Jake as Jake had walked off with his launch key.
Henry and James turned up and launched a few rockets including a home made rocket and a short version of a Broadsword. Both flew well and were recovered undamaged.
The meeting had a total of 18 people turn up, with 8 members launching a great total of 40 rockets
