On the 26th of July instead of traveling to work as normal, I drove to the Link F.M. Radio Station and got ready for my 2nd ever live radio broadcast.
I again took my 6 foot AMRAAM missile into the office and worried a few of the children working there
Andy the DJ soon appeared and said a quick hello before he had to rush off and start his 4 hour long show.
Whilst waiting for my slot on the show I talked to the radio staff and gave them some background information on myself and HART.
Soon it was time for the interview and it went well and better then last years, then I was given around 20 minutes to get set up for the "Live" rocket launch.
I again asked one of the children working at the station to launch the rocket - this time a Goliath on a C6-3 engine.
While waiting for the broadcast to come to the outside presenter I had a few spare minutes to explain how the launch system worked and did a few last minute checks.
The time soon arrived and after a nice loud 5 second countdown the launch button was pressed, the rocket immediately leapt off the pad under the power of the C engine and headed for the clouds.
A few seconds later the rocket was spotted with a perfectly opened parachute and the few children went off to recover it.
I had brought another 2 Goliath rockets with me and it was soon decided to launch the other rockets on air as well.
Soon the rockets were armed with B6-4 engines and 2 more willing volunteers pushed the launch button. These times the rocket only went around 300 feet and the gently landed in the school field and so the whole flight of both rockets were broadcasted on the radio including the race to recover them by the children.
I look forward to next years - perhaps I should launch a D or E powered rocket next year !!
