MEMBER PROFILE - STEVE JARMAN

Born Crayford, Kent in 1960 - that makes me almost middle aged!

I had a fascination for aircraft and rockets since an early age, and I must have built every kit in the Airfix range, not to mention many balsa gliders & rubber powered aircraft.

I completed an apprenticeship as an Electronics Engineer around 1980, as well as an interest in the music industry, designing and building Guitars, effects and amplification since the age of 12. I also taught myself to play drums, which continued for nearly 20 years!

When our children were born, it seemed to be a great idea to relive some of my childhood - my son Nicholas developed an interest in aircraft and can name almost any WWII aeroplane, as well as most of the Gulf War aircraft, and he's not even 5 yrs old!

My interest in rockets was late in coming, last year in fact. I ventured into the Science Museum and bought Harry Stine's book and read it again and again, and again.

I was hooked. My collection soon followed, and I tend to go for the scale models. Along came my first visit to HART, and the rest is history!

One of Steves great rockets - the famous "Air to Air" Sidewinder missile
